Important Political NE sportsmen's links

All NE Sportsmen should be aware of these important state and national sportsmen's organizations and their inter-connectivity.

NMA - Nebraska Marksmanship Association - http://nemarksmanship.org/default.aspx The NMA is the NRA’s State Affiliated Association. "Nebraska's State Governing Organization for "NRA" State Championship Tournaments."

The purpose of the NMA organization shall be the encouragement of organized rifle, pistol, and shotgun shooting events within the State of Nebraska in support of nationally recognized shooting programs. The NMA is the primary point of contact within the State of Nebraska for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), and as such, is the official sanctioning body within the State of Nebraska for NRA and CMP shooting events. The NMA may also serve as the primary state point of contact for other similar National or state associations, as required.

Nebraska Firearms Owners Association (NFOA)http://nebraskafirearms.org/

NFOA membership is open to all types of firearms owners as long as you are a resident of the state of Nebraska. Whether you are a trap shooter, long-range rifle shooter, concealed handgun permit holder, air gun, rifle and or shotgun hunter, NFA firearms enthusiast or belong to any other group of firearms owners, you are welcome to join our organization.

We are local firearms owners who have a personal interest in representing firearms owners rights in Nebraska. While there are much larger firearms owner groups and lobbyists, we have a personal stake right here in fighting for our rights. We do not have big money to fly in lobbyists from the coasts, we do not have the money to wine and dine Legislators, and we are just everyday normal Nebraska residents like you who want our voices to be heard by the various law makers. We will operate on what money is donated to us voluntarily.

NSF - Nebraska Sportsmen's Foundation - http://nesportsfnd.com/

Our Mission

The Nebraska Sportsmen's Foundation works on behalf of current and future generations to protect and guarantee the right to pursue the time-honored traditions of fishing, trapping, hunting and other related activities, for every Nebraskan, in eternity, through legislative action, public awareness and education.

The Nebraska Sportsmen's Foundation (NSF) was formed in 2002 by sportsmen's for sportsmen's as a not-for-profit 501(c)3, to be a liaison to the Nebraska Legislative Sportsmen's Forum (NLSF). The NSF and the NLSF was created through mutual concerns for the future of fishing, trapping, hunting and shooting traditions. The NSF consists of an Executive Director ,a six member Executive Board, Advisory Council, members and sponsors. The Advisory Council will advise the NSF Executive Director and Executive Board on issues of concern related to outdoor activities. The NSF, Advisory Council and NLSF will work towards an agenda to ensure that our rights and outdoor opportunities are protected for future generations.

NLSF - Nebraska Legislative Sportsmen's Foundation- No web site -

The NE Legislative Sportsmen Foundation works on behalf of current and future generations of Nebraskan's to protect the right and increase the opportunity to hunt, trap and fish by serving as the Sportsmen's link to the NE Legislature. Due to "term limits" the NLSF lost a lot of its NE legislative members. Currently we are looking for more NE State Senators to join NLSF. This is the group Senator Tony Fulton from Lincoln is Chair, along with Senator Scott Price.

Nebraska Legislative Sportsmen's Forum

·Nebraska

Nebraska was one of the 21 original state legislative sportsmen's caucuses that united to form the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) in December of 2004. After functioning independently within their own state legislature, Nebraska policymakers now had a common network for the interaction of ideas and a resource to help advance issues important to sportsmen in their home states.

The Cornhusker State's 234,000 hunters and fishermen spend $470-million annually and support 8,500 jobs.
NEBRASKA CAUCUS LEADERSHIP:

  • The NLSF was established and modeled after the bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC) in Washington D.C. which sports over 200 members from the House and Senate.
  • The NLSF was comprised of over 20 NE State Senators who desire a better understanding of the issues facing Nebraska.
  • The NLSF will become educated on the needs and rights of sportsmen and women ensuring the future of fishing, trapping, hunting and outdoor shooting sports.

Nebraska Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus

NCSC - Nebraska Council of Sportsmen's Clubs- No web site - NCSC does have "some" long-time repoir established already with NE senators which has been in place for a while. NE Senators that have served on the natural resources committee have knowledge of the NCSC and the legislative body responses well to the annual wild game reception which is scheduled for Feb 1st in 2012. Last year about half of the 49 attended the NCSC game feed event which generally is an annual affair.

The ENGC and the NFOA both belong to the NCSC. The ENGC and the NFOA each have five members attend. Each organization has Five votes or Ten votes total. Annual NCSC dues are $80.00 per size of organization. The NCSC meets twice per year. The NCSC usually meets in January/February and then June/July timeframes. The summer meeting for recommending hunting seasons to the NGPC. The winter meeting is to cover legislative issues, meet with NE Senators, etc.

Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation- http://www.sportsmenslink.org/About-Us

About Us:  Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation

The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2009. Throughout this time, CSF has maintained a singleness of purpose that has guided the organization to become the most respected and trusted hunting and fishing organization in the political arena.

Headquartered in Washington, DC just steps from the U.S. Capitol, CSF’s sole focus is providing access and a voice for sportsmen in the U.S. Congress, the Administration and federal land management agencies, as well as state legislatures across the country. With support from every major hunting and fishing organization and industry, CSF is the leader in promoting sportsmen’s issues with elected officials.

Congressional Sportsmen's CaucusThe Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus is one of the largest and most effective caucuses in the US Congress with nearly 300 members representing almost all 50 states. With bipartisan leadership in both the House and the Senate, the Caucus is the sportsmen's ally and first line of defense in Washington promoting and protecting the rights of hunters, trappers and anglers.

National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses

The National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC) serves as the umbrella organization for launching and working with state legislative sportsmen's caucuses in state legislatures. NASC is made up of nearly 2,000 state legislators and 38 state sportsmen caucuses throughout the nation.

Providing a communications network and interaction among state legislators, sportsmen's groups, industry and media, NASC and state sportsmen's caucuses are the core of the legislative front protecting and promoting hunting, fishing and wildlife management in state legislatures.

Together, CSF and NASC provide the ultimate protection against legislative attacks on hunting and fishing and deliver results for the advancement of sportsmen's interests in the political arena.

Governors Sportsmen's Caucus

The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation recently announced the formation of the Governors Sportsmen's Caucus, a bipartisan caucus of governors that will work to protect the interest of America's hunters and anglers, and advance sound wildlife management policy.

The GSC was launched at the National Governor's Association Annual Meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi, on July 17, 2009.

Guided by a bipartisan leadership team of governors and staffed through the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation, the GSC complements and enhances the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus and the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses.

NRA-ILA – National Rifle Association – Institute for Legislative Action –

http://www.nraila.org/Fighting for the Rights of American Gun Owners

The Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the lobbying arm of the NRA. Established in 1975, ILA is committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

While NRA is a single-issue organization, ILA is involved in any issue that directly or indirectly affects firearms ownership and use. These involve such topics as hunting and access to hunting lands, wilderness and wildlife conservation, civilian marksmanship training and ranges for public use, law enforcement-related issues, product liability, trapping, crime victim rights and criminal justice reform.

ILA’s ability to successfully fight for the rights of America’s law-abiding gun owners directly reflects the support of NRA’s four million plus members — a number that has more than tripled since ILA’s inception. When restrictive gun control legislation is proposed at the local, state or federal level, NRA members and supporters are alerted and respond with individual letters, faxes, e-mails and calls to their elected representatives to make their views known.

ILA is also involved in educating the public about the facts concerning the many facets of firearms ownership in America. This is accomplished through the distribution of printed fact sheets, brochures and articles, as well as daily postings on ILA’s website and social media outlets.
